Blood Clots

A clot occurs when blood cells get stuck together and don’t break down in the way they are supposed to. Blood clots can form in the arms and legs, as well as in the brain or heart. Blood can collect or pool in the legs, especially when a person is standing or sitting for a long time.

The condition can also occur in women who have had one or more pregnancies, which puts extra pressure on the legs and feet. CVI can be diagnosed with a physical exam and ultrasound. Treatment can include lifestyle modifications like weight management and wearing compression stockings, as well as minimally invasive procedures such as sclerotherapy for large veins.
