A former military captain and graduate of St. George’s University School of Medicine in the West Indies, Dr. Salerno, MD, MHA, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Skidmore College and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from Seton Hall University.
Dr. Salerno currently runs his family-owned and operated practice, Salerno Medical Associates, which has been serving the East Orange and Newark communities for over 30 years. Additionally, Dr. Salerno is the founder of the Urban Healthcare Initiative Program (UHIP), a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization predicated on delivering quality healthcare education to the urban communities of New Jersey.
In addition to SMA and UHIP, Dr. Salerno also oversees the Community Healthcare Outreach Program (CHOP), a local organization that provides house calls to those in need and the mentally ill population throughout Northern New Jersey.
Dr. Salerno has been honored with the distinction of the Physician’s Choice Award in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
